Greg McGahey is an abstract artist based out of Dallas, Texas. While earning a degree in Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington, he was fortunate to have experienced a broad range of art classes, from sketching to painting to watercolor to photography and furniture design.
“I’ve always had an appreciation and love for art. Whether that be architecture, design, painting, sculpture, woodworking, furniture design, glass blowing, you name it; I love visual things. I always saw myself as more of a woodworker, but after moving from the suburbs to Dallas, space comes at a premium, and large pieces of equipment didn’t fit into the new plan. So, I picked up a brush in an ongoing need for a creative outlet and started painting again. I haven’t painted since my days in architecture school, but it came back somewhat naturally, with some ongoing trial and error. With Covid redefining the American workspace, I have been on a creative journey to find my inner vision. Unlike architecture, which creates and defines space, abstract art truly is in the eye of the beholder—limited only by the eye’s imagination.
Thanks for taking the time, G.”
